Beach 2010

Where do I start? We traveled to Ocean City, MD last week for our summer vacation.
We left Saturday and made our way to Columbia, MD (after encountering a lot of traffic) to see Jack Johnson in concert. We stayed in Annapolis that night and then got up the next day and traveled to the Francis Scott Key Family Resort in Ocean City. It sits back about 1 mile from the beach, but is so awesome.
The things we loved most about it:
* Outdoor Pirate Sprayground - see photos
* Mini-golf
* Indoor Caribbean Pool
* the Shuttle bus that taxied us to the beach
* Outdoor swimming pools
* Playground
* Cornhole

Here are some highlights of the outdoor sprayground

Here are some other highlights from our trip:
* Spending enormous amounts of time together
* Being silly
* Fitting as many activities into each day as we possibly could (we slept well)
* Supper @ Hooper's Crab House
* Rides on the boardwalk

The beach was much nicer in the evenings than during the day. The waves were really rough and it was really hard to get into the ocean, so we spent most of our time building sand castles and digging in the sand.
The evenings @ the beach and boardwalk were a lot of fun - riding rides, playing games, eating cotton candy, walking (you don't realize how far you can walk down the beach until you turn around and see how far you have to walk back:)

Video of the indoor Caribbean pool - we were here everyday, at least once :)

Sign of a good vacation - sleepy boys! I wonder where we'll go next year?

Funny, they don't look like they're ready to leave for vacation.....

DelGrosso Park

We did our annual SFU picnic @ DelGrosso Park last Sunday - nice little park. Recommend it for younger kids. Jackson hit a milestone this year - the "I'm too cool for kiddie rides" milestone.

New Blog

As I was sitting eating breakfast and drinking my (very strong) coffee this morning, I was inspired to start another blog - more aimed at having a place to reflect upon my weight loss and fitness journey:
It's probably going to be lengthy and potentially boring, but I want a space to archive this journey, so take it for what it's worth......

My 2nd Race

I ran my 2nd 5K race yesterday morning! We all got up early, went to Altoona, and the boys watched as I ran. My only goal was to finish in under 30:03 (the time of my first race), so I kinda surprised when I was headed toward the finish line and saw that my time was going to be in the 28 minute range -"WHAT?!?!," I thought. I crossed the finish line at the 28:30 mark! There were over 500 runners (that included 5K runners, 15K runners, and 2mile walkers) and it was so inspiring to see so many people wanting to run/walk. I haven't seen official results to see where I finished overall, but I do know that I placed #10 out of 25 female in my age category, so I'm pretty happy! The Altoona course was the best route I've ever run - it was mostly flat with just 2 bridges to run over - I'm so used to running hills (b/c well, let's face it - that's all we have around here), so I guess that helped me get my PR (personal record).

Me with my boys before the race (and quite nervous)
Jeremy got this great shot just as I crossed over the finish line (I'm pretty sure my official time was 28:30).

Obviously this was post race -look @ that smile on my face (our camera is going and it's starting to give us fuzzy photos :(

On a semi-related note, my weight loss journey is progressing and I'm hoping to post some 'before -and-after' photos next month when I (fingers crossed) hit my 30# mark!

My Baby is 3!

Holy moley - 3 years have past since Jude made his way into this world? Seriously? Anyone else a little shocked that he's 3? We celebrated his birthday yesterday with a little party. Jude wanted a 'wormy' party, so Grammy Linda did, as usual, a wonderful job on the earthworm cake. Thanks to everyone who came to celebrate our sweet boy's special day.

It still amazes me that he was born on the 4th of July. Some people who share their birthdays with another holiday may think that the holiday overrides their special day, but I just think that Jude will always have his birthday off and there'll always be picnics/BBQs and fireworks for his birthday - that's a pretty cool deal! Happy #3 Jude Lincoln - Momma loves you soooooo much.
Earthworm cake!
